The turmoil that the current administration delivers daily is a black hole of chaos, and a deep well of hurt and pain and uncertainty. Unfortunately, the U.S. is not alone in this. Yet, who would have thought the United States of America would outlaw diversity, equality, and inclusion?
I always believed in the idea that creating a genuinely inclusive, respectful, society that embraces inclusion and respect for all people—regardless of background—builds a stronger, more unified nation. When everyone feels valued and has a fair chance to contribute, we unlock the full potential of our communities. It’s not just about fairness, it’s about progress, innovation, and resilience. Diverse perspectives help us solve complex problems, challenge assumptions. Hint: We thrive and grow smarter together!
This month of June stand up for Diversity! LGBTQI Pride and Juneteenth!
Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States.
LGBTQ Pride Month, is a month-long observance dedicated to the celebration of LGBTQ pride, commemorating the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) culture and community.
“People should lift each other up and cheer each other on.”
Let’s do a deep dive into understanding DEI.
Diversity: Involves the presence and acceptance of differences among people, including race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, socioeconomic status, and more.
Equity: Focuses on ensuring fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all. Equity is about striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented and impede the full participation of certain groups. Unlike equality, which treats everyone the same, equity recognizes that different people have unique needs and circumstances. (see more at the UN Global Compact)
Inclusion: Refers to the active, intentional, and ongoing effort to ensure that diverse individuals are welcomed, respected, supported, and valued. It's about creating an environment where all individuals feel a sense of belonging.
Ok I am going to repeat in more detail the VALUE of DEI (Like we really need to know?)
It is not very hard to understand that DEI can lead to:
Vibrant workplaces and communities that buzz with innovation and creativity. Diversity brings in a wider range of perspectives, and a fresh approach to solving problems that lead to more innovative solutions.
Inclusive work environments contributes to employee engagement and well-being.
Making society richer by sharing many different kinds of art, food, and celebrations.
Diverse groups can consider a wider range of perspectives, leading to more informed decisions.
